Ingredients for Life #35: Food Allergies

In this episode, David Ingalls, co-founder and CEO of Zing Bars, joins Romy and Michael to talk about food allergies and food intolerances, and the challenges those can pose for people searching for ways to improve their health, diet and nutrition.

David explains the difference between the reactions of true food allergies and actual food sensitivities and intolerances, and gives information on what things to keep an eye on to determine whether or not they are sensitive to a food that’s prevalent in their diets.

Wheat, gluten, soy, dairy and eggs are the biggest culprits in food allergies and intolerances, and David recommends Heidi Turner’s Elimination Diet program as a way to determine what, if any, food sensitivities might be causing problems once all sorts of testing and other remedies haven’t resolved the issues.

David’s journey to discover better nutrition led him to studying for a Masters in Nutrition from Bastyr University, and going into private practice as a registered dietician at the Seattle Healing Arts Center.
