Show Topic: Psychological Factors of Food and Drink
Romy Nelson is a registered dietetic technician and personal trainer, and this show is about helping people find their path to health and fitness. She specializes in corporate wellness programs to help businesses keep their employees healthy, which helps improves workplace morale and productivity.
In this episode, Romy, Michael and Jeffrey continue talking with special guest Lisa Chapa, a licensed professional counselor specializing in behavioral change who works with Romy’s clients.
Lisa talks about the affects of environment — such as plate sizes, room colors, food packaging, food placements, aromas — and other psychological factors that contribute to the mindless eating and other eating behaviors that contribute to issues with weight control.
Helpful tips: have a plan and stick to it, try not to do your grocery shopping while you’re hungry, read the labels and check the sodium and preservative levels, and be aware of the expiration dates on processed food products.
Jeffrey and Michael also ask Romy about the caloric “myths” surrounding various alcoholic beverages such as tequila, scotch, vodka, rum, champagne, sake and beer.

About Romy Nelson

Hi Romy,
I’ve just finished listening to all your podcasts over the week and you’ve inspired me to be more serious about my health.
Both my husband and I are using our treadmill more often and I’ve started using FitClick to track my food intake and my exercise. It makes a huge difference for me because I am committed to being honest in my food log and I do not want to write that I ate something really unhealthy in a non-cheat meal, so I won’t eat it.
Keep up the good work and I hope there will be more podcasts soon!
